Nokia 8 gets the Android 8.0 Oreo

After months of anticipation, the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the HTC U11 is now available.

Mo Versi - VP of Product Management at HTC - made this announcement on Twitter by tweeting "The Oreo OS update will be available for download on the HTC u11 unlocked version starting on Monday". Well now, a company executive has said that the Oreo update will be rolling out to unlocked U11 starting today.

However, this will be a big update for the owners of Pixel 2 as it supports the phone's "Visual Core", an imaging chip Google included but wasn't ready to activate at the launch of the phone. With anticipations running high, HTC does not plan to make users wait any longer as their smartphones are gradually receiving the Android 8.0 update one phone at a time. The initial version of the firmware distributed in Taiwan was approximately 1.3GB in size and the global build of the OS is likely to be around that same weight mark, though HTC has yet to detail the software in any capacity.

Meanwhile, the Nokia 5 and 6 Series are now running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and available and are already available in India. Based on this, it's safe to say carrier models will get the upgrade a bit later than the unlocked units. The 10, Ultra and u11 life will receive the update. It seems that the new Finnish startup takes the word, launching the Android 8.0 Oreo package for its flagship among the first, alongside industry-heavyweight companies.
