Congress Legislator slaps woman constable, get slapped back

A high "slap" drama took place on Friday morning in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla after a Congress MLA was denied entry into the party's office where Congress President Rahul Gandhi was holding a review meeting. Well, while this became quite a news, all that leaped the situation is the lady constable slapping her back at the moment. "I am sorry for the incident", Kumari said.

After being slapped, the police constable retaliated and slapped the MLA Asha Kumari back.

Congress MLA Asha Kumari had an altercation with a woman constable over the entry to the venue. The "slapgate" happened even as Congress president Rahul Gandhi had reached the office to take stock of the party's defeat in the recent assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh. "I am not happy at it".

After the incident, Kumari, who is also AICC in-charge for Punjab, issued an apology for slapping the lady police. I am her mother's age... but yes, I agree I should not have lost my temper.

She said: "I was pushed, manhandled, threatened with dire consequences". No one has a right to raise hand against someone, at least not the Congress culture. The meeting is slated at Rajiv Bhawan, the party's headquarters in Shimla.

Party leaders and workers started jostling to enter the office soon after Gandhi went inside the building amid a tight security at the Congress office. The BJP had won 44 seats in the hill state to oust Congress' Virbhadra singh from the chief minister's chair and his party from the government.
