Facebook makes it easier to ignore those annoying friends with 'Snooze'

Facebook is also making changes to address the quality of your news feed. "It turns out, you're not alone", Facebook said in a post.

Rather than unfriend or unfollow them (which can get tricky with people you actually know), Facebook has come up with a new solution: Snoozing.

Everyone has a Facebook friend they find annoying, whether because they post awful dad jokes, spout political nonsense, or simply have dissimilar views and interests.

Facebook's new snooze button temporarily mutes people, pages or groups for 30 days, ensuring that none of their posts will show up in your newsfeed during that time.

According to Tech Crunch, Facebook will notify you when the 30 day Snooze period on a user has ended. "You will be notified before the Snooze period is about to end and the setting can also be reversed at any time".

Facebook is slowly rolling out the Snooze feature and it may take a few days for people to see it in their news feeds.

When a user comes across a post on Facebook either from a group, or a person, that they don't want to see posts from anymore, it's easy to Snooze that person or group.

The status update was Facebook's bread and butter for most of its early life, but people have started to move away from using the social media behemoth to send out brief statements about what they ... Well, the social media giant is offering an easy way to keep them out of sight and out of mind.

"Social networks are ripping apart the social fabric of how society works".

The new feature which is now rolling out will be available by clicking the option button (an arrow) at the top right of the post, and selecting the new Snooze option.
