Our other guess is that Elon Musk is aware of an impending zombie apocalypse, and is simply arming the masses ahead of time.
When we first saw the gun we thought it was a joke but according to CNN not only is it real but it's Musk's way of securing funding for The Boring Company. " It costs $500 to pre-order (what did you think?) and it will come with "fees that may apply for worldwide orders because of laws". Redditors in a few SpaceX, Boring Company, and Musk-related subreddits noticed earlier this week that the URL "boringcompany.com/flamethrower" started redirecting to a page with a password box.
The fire extinguisher costs a further $30. Musk subsequently posted a video of himself running around an office with one of his toys, which appears to shoot a jet of flame a few feet.
Due to practical safety concerns, The Boring Company flamethrowers are created to produce a flame only up to 10 feet long.
Have you bought one of Musk's flamethrowers yet?
Musk's startup - The Boring Company - warns that the £355 price tag excludes taxes and shipping costs, and that customers need to apply for global sales.
Marketing copy on the website said the $500 price tag excludes taxes and shipping costs and that additional customs fees may apply for worldwide sales. Past year the firm sold hats for $20 (~R239) a pop though flamethrowers are a touch more risky than a hat.
He has been tweeting the landmarks as they tick off, and given the 7k figure was released 7 hours ago, we're expecting another update soon.
