United last met Derby in their FA Cup winning campaign in 2015-16 under Louis Van Gaal in an away trip where the Red Devils won 3-1 in their fourth-round conflict, with Wayne Rooney, Daley Blind and Juan Mata getting the goals for the Old Trafford side.
"It was a great shot by Jesse Lingard in the top corner, he's in a moment of confidence where things go well for him", Mourinho told the BBC.
Lingard, in the form of his life, pulled off a stunning first-time effort from outside the area to break the deadlock on 84 minutes.
Paul Pogba played in a more advanced position during the impressive win at Everton and I think we'll see the French worldwide continue in that role tomorrow.
Derby finds itself in good position to secure promotion to the Premier League, as the Rams sit second in the Championship with 49 points.
See how to watch the match below.
Three minutes later, Pogba had a chance to send United ahead but his curling shot from just outside the box towards the top corner missed wide.
Mkhitaryan eventually got a cross right with 10 minutes of the first 45 left, directing an in-swinger from the left into a crowd of men in the Derby area, and Marcus Rashford rose highest to direct his header onto the post.
But when you get past 80 minutes and the goal hasn't come, you fear the second match.
Rashford hit the left side of post with a right-footed shot in the 70th minute from the right side of the box after neatly inter-changing passes with Lingard.
That opener flattened out the game as United looked comfortable in possession, but Romelu Lukaku struck in stoppage time to double the lead and seal progression to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.
