'The Big Bang Theory': Bill Gates Signs on as Guest Star

He will appear in an episode of the popular comedy series "The Big Bang Theory", reported by CBS television broadcasting the U.S. television series. He pops up when he visits the pharmaceutical company where Penny works, and of course the guys want to meet him.

The boys of The Big Bang Theory have come a long way. The show revolves around a group of scientists and frequently explores technology and geek culture.

The Microsoft founder-turned-billionaire philanthropist will play himself in a March episode of the series, EW reports.

He previously appeared as himself in a guest role on "Frasier" in 2001.

Microsoft's founder Bill Gates will become an actor.

Fans who are as geeky as the characters on the show may remember that Bill made an offscreen appearance in the fourth season when Raj, Leonard and Howard gleefully retold the story to Raj's sister, Priya, in the episode, The Toast Derivation.

The series returns on March 1 at 8 PM ET on CBS.

Nor is he the first famous face to play themselves in the show either - with the likes of Carrie Fisher, Stephen Hawking, Buzz Aldrin, LeVar Burton and Stan Lee all having put in appearances at one time or another.
