Defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson visiting the Saints

Muhammad Wilkerson, the former defensive end for the New York Jets, will be meeting with the coaching staff of the Green Bay Packers, per Ian Rapoport. Wilkerson will have to prove to Green Bay that his final season with NY was a one-off season built on mounting frustration, and not a sign of future problems from him.

The tweet above from New York Daily News beat reporter, Manish Mehta, last night has just sparked one of the more Jets stories you'll ever see.

"You didn't like Geno (Smith), you didn't like Darrelle (Revis), you didn't like Santonio Holmes, you always played Muhammad against Sheldon (Richardson)", she said. Nothing. He's never admitted to being an alcoholic.

Wilkerson is a risk that teams will have to weigh after burning out in NY.

Mehta has since doubled down on his comment, according to Sporting News, saying "it's not personal" and that his initial remarks were based on Wilkerson having "issues with alcohol and drinking in the past". You know, where? He's never had a DWI. "I can't tell you..." The visit went well, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, but Wilkerson is keeping his options open. "Like, why do you keep saying these things about my son?"

While Wilkerson may not have lived up to the five-year, $86 million deal he signed with the Jets two seasons ago, there are at least a couple teams that believe he can still make an impact.

The Jets released the 315-pound defensive tackle in February.

Ms. Wilkerson said that she was "livid", and that Mehta has never liked her son.

Ka'idah was asked if she would consider legal action. No, I don't.He (Mehta) always has something negative to say about Muhammad.
