Packers fans are sad to see Jordy Nelson go

Nelson's age and injury history are concerning, but the wideout has been an above-average, borderline elite pass-catcher for six years. Now he'll be catching balls from Aaron Rodgers after reportedly agreeing to a three-year deal with the Green Bay Packers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The University of Miami product spent the last three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks after opening his career with five high-level seasons in New Orleans. In 2016, Nelson notched 97 catches for 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns.

New GM Brian Gutekunst has signaled he will be much more active in free agency than Ted Thompson.

At a cap hit of over $12.5 million, Nelson was due the third-highest salary of any Packers player for 2018.

It had to happen at some point, but most Packers fans would've preferred later down the road.

"We can not thank Jordy enough for all that he has given the Green Bay Packers and our community for the past 10 years", Gutekunst said.

While there's still a chance Nelson could re-sign with Green Bay later in the spring, the team's press release made it sound like he's officially done.

An NFL source confirmed multiple reports that the Packers, who are thin at tight end after last year's failed Martellus Bennett experiment, are interested in Graham.

Nelson took a major step back this past season when Rodgers was lost for the season, and Brett Hundley took over as the starting quarterback.

Does this mean the Packers will dive into every free agent opportunity that comes their way, with deals like Kirk Cousins' $28 million/year guaranteed with the Vikings?

McCray started eight games in 2017 and was the feel-good story of the season after making the team in training camp, less than a year removed from working at a hotel and playing in the Arena Football League.

Still, Nelson struggled to make a big impact within the Rodgers-depleted offense last season.
