Dershowitz confronts Hannity: 'You should have disclosed your relationship with Cohen'

Following a personal feud with Hannity, Jimmy Kimmel couldn't contain his glee over the revelations about the Fox News host on Monday, calling him "chief propaganda guy for Trump's legal team - but he never disclosed that he is also represented by a member of that legal team".

"I never gave him a retainer".

Before his relationship to Cohen had been revealed, Hannity harshly criticized the special counsel Robert Mueller after FBI agents working for the U.S. attorney's office for the Southern District of NY raided Cohen's office during a criminal investigation into his business dealings.

"I think he is so into this like a pig in the mud he can't get out of it, and I think he deserves to be fired", Connolly said.

"I have the right to privacy", Hannity interjected.

The bulk of the hearing focused on efforts by lawyers for Trump and Cohen to stop federal prosecutors from sifting through a trove of tax records, business documents, emails and other material that FBI agents seized in the raids last week.

The search sought information on a variety of matters, including a $130,000 payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels, who alleges she had sex with a married Trump in 2006.

On "The Daily Show", host Trevor Noah said that knowing Hannity has direct ties to Cohen makes it "fun to look back" at past clips from Hannity's show. He bent over backwards to deny the relationship, claiming nothing more than a few harmless chit-chats over real estate. "I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective", Hannity wrote on Twitter. He reiterated that he was never was represented by Cohen and never had any cases with him that involved a third party. Addressing Hannity's comments about Cohen, Kimmel said, "It's interesting, he has a lawyer he doesn't pay".

Noah urged his audiences to consider "just how unethical" it is that Hannity continuously reported on the Federal Bureau of Investigation raid without mentioning his own legal dealings with Cohen.

The TV and radio host said his dealings with Cohen "never involved a matter between me and another third party". I never retained him, received an invoice, or paid legal fees.

At the end of the show, Hannity finally got around to elaborating on his relationship with Cohen, but the segment mainly consisted of him mocking the mainstream media for its coverage of Cohen, who he now describes as "me and President Trump's personal attorney".

"Attorney Client privilege is now a thing of the past", he tweeted Sunday. To restate a point I made earlier, does anyone believe that Hannity would have criticized the feds less, or not at all, for raiding Cohen's office if his own communications hadn't been caught up in the raid? What do you think about this? "I should know because I'm Michael Cohen's fourth secret client".

They asked to review the documents before they'd be released but the judge said no and instructed prosecutors to build a searchable database of the documents, without examining their contents.

"You should have said that", Dershowitz said.

Monday's hearing began with an appearance by porn actress Stormy Daniels, who was swarmed by photographers and almost fell as she was hustled into the courthouse, a scene that captured the sensational atmosphere around the case.

But she also said that to help ensure fairness and the perception of fairness, "a special master might have some role here".
