Did Prince William Just Accidentally Reveal The Royal Baby's Name?

Prince William stepped out for a royal engagement on Wednesday and gave the press an update on his new baby boy.

"The Queen has the facility to say what their title is - she'll decree that they're the Prince of Cambridge", defined Williams.

Kensington Palace announced the news, tweeting: 'Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs.

Alexander is Prince George's middle name, and was reportedly chosen to honour the Queen, whose middle name is Alexandra.

When Australian politician Alexander Downer asked William if he had considered "Alexander", William said: "Well it's amusing you should say that".

MSN recently surveyed people across the United States about their thoughts on the royal family, including what they think the name of the new royal baby will be.

His uncle, Prince Harry has spent most of his life being third in line to the throne, but has found himself being bumped down to sixth in line.


News of the royal birth came with a mix of tradition and modernity typical of Britain's media-savvy royal family.

The baby - and his yet-unknown name - was on everyone's mind as people extended good wishes to the new dad. When asked how the baby was doing, William replied, "Very well, thanks".

The couple's Kensington Palace office says Kate gave birth at 11:01 a.m. (1001 GMT; 6:01 a.m. EDT) to a boy weighing 8 pounds, 7 ounces (3.8 kilograms).

Wills and Kate announced the names of George and Charlotte in the afternoon, two days after they were born. Previously younger males would take precedence over older female siblings.

The royals are expected to make the announcement public due to the timing of their previous children.

Will and Kate also expressed their gratitude to hospital staff through the palace's Twitter account.
