Ravens agree to deal with QB Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III is back in the National Football League, signing a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday. They previously had Ryan Mallett, but he's a free agent this offseason.

Griffin becomes the third quarterback on the Baltimore roster, joining Joe Flacco and Josh Woodrum. Griffin went on to Cleveland in 2016 to post even more troubling numbers before sitting out the 2017 season. He turned 28 in February. I'm really feeling like we got a steal.

The former Heisman Trophy victor was regarded as one of the league's most electrifying prospects when Washington selected him with the second overall pick of the 2012 draft. "He's a very talented quarterback", he said.

But an ACL injury at the end of his outstanding rookie season derailed a promising career.

When last we saw Griffin on the field, he was one of the most inefficient quarterbacks in the NFL.

The two sides came to a contract agreement on Tuesday and Griffin is expected to officially sign next week.

But next season he sustained a knee sprain during a game against the Ravens, and came off for Kirk Cousins. The Washington Redskins traded three first-round picks and a second-rounder to move up four spots to select him at No. 2 overall, one pick behind Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck. In 2015, Griffin fell to third on the Redskins depth chart and remained inactive during the regular season. I really feel that way. "He will probably be here early next week to sign the deal".

The Ravens signing RGIII shouldn't preclude Baltimore from possibly drafting a young signal-caller this year. "He really wanted to be a Raven", said Ravens Coach John Harbaugh. It just felt like this was the place for him. He enjoyed a sensational rookie season, throwing 20 touchdown passes and only five interceptions. "We're always working to make our roster as good as it can be". "I'm pretty excited about this player".
