Williams continues her Grand Slam return with her toughest assignment so far against 11th-seeded German Julia Goerges on Court Suzanne Lenglen.

Williams beat 17-seed Ashleigh Barty in the round of 64 on Thursday and defeated Kristyna Pliskova in the round of 128 on Tuesday at Rolad Garros.

Sharapova has won just two of their 21 meetings - including the 2004 Wimbledon final - and none in the last 14 years.

"I have cried in the locker room many times after a loss, and that's what I have seen a lot of people do". “Despite the record that I have against her, I always look forward to coming out on the court and competing against the best players.”.

Asked about what was written about her in the 31-year-old's book, Williams said: "So I was, like, this is really interesting".

Halep, seeking to reach her third French Open title, takes on Belgian 16th seed Elise Mertens, who booked her place in the last-16 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Australia's Daria Gavrilova.

Her net worth was valued at $285 million by Forbes past year while, according The Richlist, Williams's financial assets were estimated at $170 million.

Williams, a new mother, who is in the midst of stirring comeback from a hard pregnancy, only nine months after she gave birth to daughter Alexis OIympia, questioned the contents of Sharapova's book, before taking the high road. And who waits 14 years to ask Serena Williams a tiresome, sexist and racist question about Maria Sharapova?

They met in the Paris final in 2013 and in the quarter-final of the 2016 Australian Open, which was Sharapova's last match before a 15-month doping ban.

"I wanted to read the book and I was really excited for it to come out and I was really happy for her".

"I'm concerned how that's going to work out for me, because normally in Grand Slams I do spend a lot of time at the site".

She added, "I think what happens there should definitely maybe stay there and not necessarily talk about it in a not-so-positive way in a book".

"It's a fun suit, but it's also functional so I'm able to play without any problems". Sharapova earned probably the biggest win since her return, and she did so by winning 67 percent of her total service points and breaking five times.

Insisting she doesnt “have any negative feelings” toward Sharapova, Williams said “the success of one female should be the inspiration to another.”.

"I will look forward to doing that if she wins this one".

Reigning US Open champion Sloane Stephens fought tooth and nail, stopping Camila Giorgi twice from serving out the match to defeat the Italian 4-6, 6-1, 8-6 and set up a fourth round against Kontaveit.

Sharapova dropped just three games as she knocked out the sixth-seeded Czech Karolina Pliskova.

The 23-time grand slam singles victor then rejected Sharapova's suggestion that she hated her rival.

Williams has won her last 18 singles matches against Sharapova but said Saturday she sees herself as an underdog.

Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza is now many pundits' favourites for the title after dismantling Sam Stosur. The American made a brief foray on the tour earlier this season, but she played only four matches.
