Sarri set to raid Napoli after Chelsea appointment

Raul Albiol, Elseid Hysaj, Jose Callejon and Dries Mertens are all wanted by Sarri but Napoli are keen to limit how many players their former manager signs.

Maurizio Sarri is moving ahead with finalising the makeup of his backroom staff at Chelsea after moving closer to securing Giovanni Martusciello, Inter's technical collaborator.

It's claimed that the Spaniard can leave the Stadio San Paolo this summer if his €6M release clause is yet.

It is, therefore, hardly surprising that the 31-year-old has been a highly sought-after player in the transfer market for well over a year, with Chelsea in particular, holding a long-standing interest in him. He has proven himself able to still compete at the top level. Sarri is already said to be considering new acquisitions.

Midfield duo Matias Vecino, of Inter Milan, and Nice's Jean Michael Seri are also on his shortlist as he looks to rejuvenate a team that finished fifth - outside of the Champions League qualification places - last term, despite winning the FA Cup.

"I'm disappointed that he leaves like this but we have now a big coach [Ancelotti]".

Mertens probably has a couple of good years left in him but having Eden Hazard on one wing and his Belgian teammate on the other could provide us with one of the most destructive attacks in the Premier League. I hope he [Sarri] can win something with Chelsea.

There have also been reports that several senior players are unhappy with his demanding training regime.

But a number of reports have linked the 30-year-old with a move away from Turin this summer.

Sarri had been in charge of Napoli since 2015.
