Cynthia Nixon Claims That Cold Temps Are 'Notoriously Sexist'

Andrew Cuomo and his Democratic primary challenger Cynthia Nixon began, as so many NY arguments begin, with a dispute about the subway. The biggest question heading in, given his considerable apparent lead, is whether Cuomo can sit tight - the pair will both be seated for the duration - and steer clear of any comment or confrontation that might throw him off course.

"I'm running for Governor, not President", Cuomo said. "His goal will be to make no news".

Cuomo was responding to Nixon's claim that he "used the MTA like an ATM", when Nixon cut in. On Wednesday afternoon, his campaign unveiled a new ad - which it says will air during the debate - featuring old clips of Nixon praising the governor before she made a decision to run against him. Nixon has not run a single television ad, instead spending primarily on digital outreach and voter turnout efforts.

"The government is not about politics, it's not about advocacy; it's about doing", Cuomo said.

"Excuse me, can you stop interrupting", Cuomo exclaimed.

Cynthia Nixon speaks at the Democratic gubernatorial primary debate, August 29, 2018, at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. She accused him of empowering Republicans in Albany and not doing enough to address political corruption, income inequality or New York City's aging subways.

Nixon, the candidate of activists who want to dismantle the conservative wing of the state's Democratic Party, was largely able to deliver that message.

"Can you stop lying?", Nixon retorted. "Unlike Cynthia Nixon, the governor has more important things to focus on than the temperature of a room", said campaign spokesperson Lis Smith. "I'm going to fight with him", Cuomo said. He is attacking everything we believe in NY. "CBS was very frank with us that they really didn't have a choice - that these were his demands and if they were not acceded to, he wouldn't show up", Ms. Nixon said this month.
