How to complete Fortnite challenges - Season 6, Week 1

Free-to-play online multiplayer shooter Fortnite has gotten into the Halloween spirit with the release of Season 6 on Thursday, offering new areas to explore in the game alongside new cosmetic items. You can get dogs, dragons, and other pets that stay with you as a backbling. All three feature their own animations and personality, and each comes with its own slight variation on the same backpack.

Season 6 also adds adorable pet companions that watch your back when you drop in and some updated map areas in line with the spooky new theme.

Here's what's new with Fortnite Season 6. Now, the game features Shadow Stones, which provide players with powers for a short period of time. That said, they can move faster, jump higher and have a better fall damage immunity.

The video game phenomenon that is Fortnite (and the company that created it, Epic Games) continues to plow on, steamrolling all of its competitors on the way to a $5-$8 billion dollars valuation. Standing still in shadow form allows you to become invisible to your enemies while moving around will make you more visible and cause you to leave a shadow trail behind you. While being in this form however, players will not be able to use any weapons.

For players interested in grabbing new costumes and pets, the new Season 6 battle pass is now available, which unlocks the items as players play more and unlock new levels. Cute, right? But if you look closer, you can see this week's Battle Star in plain sight. Changes have been made to the circle, which now has a shortened wait time for shrinking but takes longer to shrink. A handful of weapons have also been vaulted, including Impulse Grenade, Suppressed Submachine Gun, Light Machine Gun, Bouncer, and Remote Explosives.

The full patch notes can be found over on Fortnite's website.
