Manchester United’s player ratings as they concede late equaliser at Stamford Bridge

The Portuguese was enraged by the provocative celebrations of Marco Ianni, one of Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri's assistants, after the 96th-minute goal and had to be restrained as he tried to pursue Ianni down the tunnel.

Jose Mourinho faces a return to Stamford Bridge with Manchester United aiming to build some momentum after a hard start.

Of the incident involving Sarri's assistant, he added: "I'm not annoyed".

"What happened was with Sarri's assistant and Sarri was the first one to come to me and say that he would resolve the problem internally with him", Mourinho said.

"I immediately said if you really feel that way and you want to apologize, of course I accept the apology and forget it because I also make mistakes in my career".

Chelsea's slick passing game gave way to long-ball hoofing tactics while José Mourinho's United stepped up a gear and Martial scored again on the break in the 74th.

As Mourinho made his way back to the dressing room after the full-time whistle, he responded to the taunts from Chelsea fans by reminding them of the number of Premier League titles he won in his time as Blues boss. "I have seen the match on the bench, and now want to study the second half of the match".

Ianni, who came to Chelsea from Napoli with Sarri, twice celebrated in close proximity to Mourinho in the aftermath of substitute Barkley's goal.

"We made a mistake, we were in the wrong in the situation".

Much of the criticism aimed at Mourinho this season has centred around his failure to get the best out of several of his leading players, as well as the team's overall style of play.

For the second match running United had come from behind to lead, and Ashley Young has now called for the Red Devils to start matches the way they have been finishing them of late. "I have spoken with the member of my staff and then I bring him to speak with Mourinho to say sorry to him". However, United flipped the script in the second half to ensure that the game ended in a draw.

"It is maybe the first period in my life when we win average matches".

"We are gutted. When you get yourself back into the game, not just back in the game but you are winning and concede with a minute to go, I'm still baffled where the referee got six minutes (of stoppage time) from".

"At 1-1 we stopped with our football and played other football".

"I think I would try to control myself and to respect the stadium and the supporters that were my supporters and stadium for many years".
