Suspicious packages sent to former Vice President Biden, Robert De Niro

X-ray images show that the package addressed to De Niro contains a device similar to the pipe bombs found in other packages this week that were addressed to prominent Democrats, the two sources said. The police bomb squad responded to the scene, and it was "removed from the location", the NYPD says.

The New York City police commissioner said the package contained what appeared to be a live explosive and envelope containing white powder.

A suspicious package was sent to actor Robert De Niro in New York City, CBS News has learned.

Tribeca Enterprises co-founder Jane Rosenthal said Thursday that the building was evacuated after the package was found, but that it has been re-opened.

The packages addressed to Biden were intercepted at mail facilities in Delaware. Waters was targeted twice, and all the packages apparently had Rep.

Law enforcement officials said all the packages were similar: manila envelopes with bubble-wrap interior bearing six stamps and the return address of Wasserman Schultz. "Do not hesitate to call; no piece of information is too small to help us in this investigation".

"I've been governor of NY for seven years, I've faced many terrorism situations, and this works on multiple levels". "Second, especially in NY, you want to retain a sense of control, you want people to know that you're acting and you're acting appropriately and they're safe".

Federal Bureau of Investigation and local authorities are responding to two scenes at Delaware post offices, which Delaware State Police said were in Wilmington and New Castle.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions spoke out on the bombing threats for the first time Thursday. No postmark is visible on the front of the De Niro package, similar to some of the others, the sources said.

President Donald Trump accused the media of stirring up "anger" Thursday as the United States reeled from a series of suspicious packages and pipe bombs sent to prominent Democrats and actor Robert De Niro.

At a Wisconsin rally Wednesday night Trump called attention to "how nice I'm behaving tonight" but on Thursday morning he attacked the media.

A package containing a "live explosive device", according to police, received at the Time Warner Center which houses the CNN New York bureau, in New York City, is shown in this handout picture provided October 24, 2018.

The spree of bomb alerts kicked off on Monday with a device found at the NY home of billionaire liberal donor George Soros. The Weinstein Company's New York City office used to be in the building.

Former President Barack Obama and two-time presidential candidate Hillary Clinton were mailed explosive devices disguised as packages on Wednesday.

"One of the biggest fears overnight into this morning is there are more bombs out there", Berman said.

The Secret Service also caught another package before it got to the Washington, D.C. home of the Obamas.

The FBI confirmed that two packages were found in DE meant to reach Mr. Biden, a potential 2020 presidential contender.

The FBI are treating the packages as a domestic terror incident, and law enforcement sources believe the same suspect or suspects may be behind all of the packages.
