Liverpool vs Arsenal: Real reason Ozil will not play in EPL clash

City have slipped to third in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Liverpool, after three defeats in their last four games but Guardiola said he never thought his side were unbeatable.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the 55-year-old says: "This Liverpool side is totally different to the side we drew with".

The point that will not be lost on defending champions Manchester City, who face Klopp's side at the Etihad stadium on Thursday, was the excellence of Liverpool's attack.

All three of Liverpool's frontline deserve honourable mentions, but Firmino was the standout for his link-up play, clever off-the-ball movement and three goals - the second of which being brilliant. It was a really special performance from the Brazilian who covered the entire front-line, popped up in space time and time again, ran with pace at retreating defenders and generally caused a nuisance.

Firmino made no mistake from the spot to complete his hat-trick and make it 5-1.

Liverpool had 10 shots on goal, while Arsenal had only two, and if anything it was good practice for Liverpool when it comes to facing adversity in the league.

A chaotic five-minute spell in the first half saw Ainsley Maitland-Niles put Arsenal ahead, before a quickfire Firmino brace turned the score around. The first was fortunate but his second is just pure class.

Arsenal were unravelling at an alarming rate and Granit Xhaka was fortunate to escape an immediate second yellow card after kicking the ball away having clattered Robertson.

It is clear, too, that they will take some stopping.

The Egyptian scored their fourth on the stroke of half-time, converting a penalty after referee Michael Oliver adjudged he had been tripped by Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

45'+2 GOAL! Liverpool 4-1 Arsenal: Salah hammers the penalty past Leno and Liverpool are cruising to victory at Anfield! Part of it is being in the right spot at the right time, but the confidence this gives will be huge.

Sadio Mane caught Arsenal in possession as the Reds pounced, with Firmino picking up the ball and dribbling past two Arsenal shirts before coolly slotting home past Leno.
