Manny Machado Follows Phillies Shortstop on Instagram

NY acquired Britton prior to the trade deadline this past season, giving Baltimore three minor league pitchers in exchange for a few months of service from the soon-to-be 31-year-old pitcher.

Manny Machado completed a three-city tour of potential landing spots in Philadelphia today, where he met with the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park and was taken to dinner by several key members of the organization (links via MLB.com's Todd Zolecki and Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia).

The Yankees brass dined with Machado Wednesday night, pitching the four-time All-Star on the privilege of wearing the iconic pinstripes that he grew up admiring, the impact this franchise would have on his legacy, and why he would be a flawless fit for their roster.

At 26 years old, Machado is without question a franchise changing free agent.

Would Machado leave that much money on the table to play in the Big Apple?

Many Phillies officials were on hand Thursday to greet and talk with Machado, his agent, wife and others on a potential deal.

Much has been made about the fact that the Phillies are ready to be "stupid" with their spending this offseason.

Chicago is also considered to be a real player for Machado and Harper. If the Yankees do get him, they are going to be even more risky in the American League.

Last season split between the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers, Machado ended up compiling a.297 batting average to go along with 37 home runs and 107 RBI's. He's had two top-five MVP finishes in the last four years, hitting at least 33 home runs in every season since 2015.
