Buckeyes to land mega-transfer Justin Fields

Quarterback Justin Fields is finalizing a transfer from Georgia to Ohio State according to Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports.

Fields was a 5-Star prospect coming out of high school but he didn't have much of an opportunity to show off his skills as a freshman. He threw for 328 yards, ran for 266 and had eight combined touchdowns.

Dwayne Haskins' brief-yet-illustrious Ohio State career is over.

Fields was rated a five star dual-threat quarterback by 247 Sports and verbally committed to Georgia in October 2017.

However, Georgia did not use Fields in the Sugar Bowl loss against Texas.

Fields will be enrolling at The Ohio State University and begin classes as soon as Monday in Columbus.

The Kennesaw, Georgia-native deepens Ohio State at quarterback and sets up an intriguing competition with Tate Martell. "I appreciate what Coach Smart and the UGA football coaching staff gave done to help me progress as a quarterback and for their patience and understanding while I thoughtfully considered my future as a student-athlete", Fields said in a statement.

NCAA rules would require Fields to sit out next season if he transfers, though he could request a waiver to become immediately eligible.

The Buckeyes landed Georgia backup quarterback Justin Fields, a highly touted recruit who spent the season backing up Bulldogs' starter Jake Fromm. Multiple sources told The Athletic that things were looking good for Ohio State to land Fields, and given.
