Jackpot Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold in NY

A lucky Mega Millions ticket holder in NY won the jackpot on the first day of the new year.

The Mega Millions victor for the $1.5 billion jackpot from October still has not come forward to claim the prize.

The winning ticket was sold in New York at Brookville Auto Service on Northern Boulevard in Glen Head, according to the New York Lottery website.

It's no secret the odds of winning that $425 million Tuesday night from the Mega Millions drawing are stacked against you.

Mega Millions says this will be the eighth largest jackpot in its history.

To play the Mega Millions game you select five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25.

If the victor decides to take the cash option, that's still $261.8 million.

The victor has not yet come forward.

The jackpot grew after nobody won Friday' drawing. The last time was in Texas in 2008. The ticket was sold at Broad Avenue Mini Market in Ridgefield.

A quite place sounds like a sensible plan to come up with to safeguard the millions in winnings, but the chances of being faced with that task are pretty slim.

Mega Millions drawings are Tuesdays and Fridays and are offered in 44 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
