Philadelphia 76ers sign Tobias Harris from LA Clippers in six-player deal

Australian big man Thon Maker appears headed to the Detroit Pistons and Ben Simmons' Philadelphia 76ers are set to add elite Los Angeles Clippers forward Tobias Harris to bolster their chances of claiming the National Basketball Association title.

Center Boban Marjanovic and forward Mike Scott were shipped to the Sixers.

The returns for the Clippers on the deal include Landry Shamet, Wilson Chandler, Mike Muscala, two first round picks, and two second round picks.

"Sixers are loading up with a fourth All-Star caliber player in East, Harris", Wojnarowski wrote. Averaging almost 20 points and eight rebounds per game, he's now one of the Sixers best forwards alongside the Big 3 of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler, a situation he's clearly excited about. If it does not convey it will reportedly become a pair of second-round picks in the 2023 and 2024 drafts. For the Clippers, this deal not only gives them valuable picks and potential trade assets, but allows them to commit to clearing cap space for two max-level players.

The new Sixers host the Nuggets Friday night.

Harris was acquired by the Clippers last season in a trade with the Detroit Pistons centered on Blake Griffin.

A free agent at the end of the season along with Butler, Harris was pleased with the trade and showed his appreciation with a Philadelphia scene from the opening credits of Fresh Prince.

With the National Basketball Association trade deadline on Thursday (8pm GMT), teams in both the Eastern and Western Conferences are looking to fine-tune their rosters for the remainder of the regular season and beyond.
