Samsung introduces the Galaxy Fold

When folded, the phone is fairly thick.

We have already seen Samsung's new earbuds and the Galaxy watches but it looks like they won't be the only accessory to launch at the event.

But the fact that the new phone unlocks easily will without doubt be the most welcome feature for many Samsung owners, who have had to live with facial- and iris-recognition technology on the S8 and S9 that wasn't up to par, and fingerprint scanners that were placed awkwardly, to put it mildly.

Samsung senior vice president of product marketing Justin Denison announces the new Samsung Galaxy Fold smartphone during the Samsung Unpacked event on February 20, 2019 in San Francisco, California.

Expectations: As Engadget reports, Samsung is expected to reveal at least three new smartphones at the event, including a possible foldable phone.

CameraWhile the S10 and S10 Plus offer souped-up triple camera setups, the Galaxy S10e sports a more modest dual-camera setup comprising a 16MP ultra-wide lens coupled with a 12MP wide-angle lens.

The S10 comes with an upgraded camera system that features "advanced intelligence", the ability to charge other phones wirelessly, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage (on the base model) and a number of other features, according to the release.

The S10 5G has the industry's biggest battery and a fourth camera on the rear of the device for augmented reality.

When unfolded, the screen can be used to display three apps at once - a first for any smartphone. But the iPhone X isn't selling as well as analysts hoped, partly because it carried a $1,000 price tag.

It also introduced the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus, which it says boasts the 'most color-accurate display ever on a mobile device'.

Moreover, the panel in question is flat, meaning it does not come with Samsung's signature curved design.

Samsung has unveiled a highly anticipated smartphone with a foldable screen that breaks new ground in a market that has been stuck in an innovative funk.

Moreover, the device is similarly able to share its power with other devices that are placed on its rear. The 5G model will come to Europe after the USA and South Korea, with network partners expected to announce further details at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week.

The Galaxy Fold will arrive April 26 at a starting price of $1,980. We've got a Galaxy S9 deals page which you can use to find all the cheapest contracts and SIM-free handsets, if the S9 is something you'd consider buying.
