Lue emerged as a top candidate for the Lakers' coaching job shortly after the season's end.

There have been a lot of Lakers rumors surrounding the franchise as they look for their new head coach.

According to the Times, former Lakers coach Phil Jackson and Magic Johnson - who stepped down as Lakers' president of basketball operations last month - have told team co-owner Jeanie Buss that they support hiring Lue.

Both coaches have had multiple meetings with Lakers brass.

With a big offseason coming up for the Lakers, Lue will likely be a big part of the recruiting pitches for potential free agents.

With at least two years left on his contract, the Lakers will continue to build around LeBron for the foreseeable future.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Friday, citing league sources, the Los Angeles Lakers are "proceeding toward an offer" to bring Lue in as the next head coach of the Purple and Gold.

Lue has the most experience of working with James, having spent two-and-a-half seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
